Unemployment

This is one of the first projects Max and I ever worked on. Unemployment is about a cop who’s been fired and resorts to a severe alcoholic binge. Looking back at it, I really appreciate the innocence and simplicity in not only the writing, but the cinematography. Shot it on SVHS in one day with available light and no sound equipment.

Excess

This was an early project. Due to the cost of film, this 8mm project was an “in-camera edit,” which means that every shot had to be planned, including the black spaces and credit sequence. Enjoy this statement on our country.

Then You'll Be A Star

This is dual produced documentary made in film school in collaboration with Chimpanity Films. We shot on SVHS at a karaoke bar in Burbank, CA. Filmed on a shoestring budget, and full of eccentric characters, this documentary is an insider’s look at the seamy world of late night karaoke. We took 1st place documentary in the PCC film festival of 2006.

Am I Blue?

This particular short is what we call a Fluidmaster. Most films are edited together with a combination of several different angles, while this scene is one continuous shot. Not only do the actors have to know their lines entirely, but they must also understand the technique of blocking: knowing where the camera is to be throughout the scene so that each action moves the camera. The crew must also be like one. This scene is taken from Singles by Cameron Crow. Enjoy!

Am I Blue? (Alternate Take)

This is the same scene shot with a different motivation. I did this to allow my actors an opportunity to expand their skills and take a different direction.

Heinz: Dream Responsibly

Heinz had a contest in late ‘07 in which they offered a prize of $57,000 to any young or old filmmaker, amateur or professional to shoot them a 30 second spot for national television. By the time I had found out about the contest there were only a couple days left until the contest deadline. I shot it in a day, and edited through the night posting it with only minutes to spare.

Ad For Sale

We shot this for a mortgage company back in September, but it never made it into an editor’s hands because of the Housing Market’s fall. The producer cut all funding so we decided that it was pointless to let such a great idea go to waste, so after cutting it we’re posting it on the site for anyone to purchase. Sound and title cards can be changed.
